The conservancy
Twelve camps. Seventy thousand acres.
Mara North is Maasai land, established in 2009 by twelve member camps and more than 800 landowning families. It borders the national reserve to the north — same ecosystem, different rules. Off-road driving and night drives are allowed here, and there is no day-visitor traffic.
Game drives carry no more than four guests, so nobody sits in a middle seat. Leopard Gorge, Rhino Ridge and Musiara Marsh — all filmed repeatedly by the BBC — are within a morning’s drive.
